At a remote estate in upstate New York, newlyweds Leah (Ella Rae Peck) and Shane (Rigo Garay) celebrate their honeymoon as a pall hangs over their union. Ella works for a book publisher that will imminently be releasing Shane's debut novel, a semi-autobiographical exposé of his family's trauma, alcoholism, and immigrant experience. This suppressed tension is enough kindling for a blowup on its own, but then Leah and Shane's new marriage is truly tested by the inexplicable appearance of two strangers with a half-baked blackmail plot: John (John Speredakos), a maniacally optimistic entrepreneur, and his surly wife Rose (Lorraine Farris). They're looking for investors for John's latest invention, a culinary breakthrough called the Crumb Catcher -- and they're not going to take no for an answer.
