Rome

Richard Ayoade returns to save the world from boring vacations, one destination at a time. In this episode, the BAFTA-losing Travel Man is joined by actor and comedian Matt Lucas for a frantic 48 hours in the eternal city of Rome. Together, they cram in culture, cuisine, history, hats, and as many sights as they can see. After dropping their bags, they head to Rome’s oldest hat shop, which makes and sells a dizzying variety of headgear. To see some sights in the most time efficient and Italian way possible, they then take a guided tour in vintage Fiat 500 cars before heading to the Vatican, a city within a city. Day two begins early, with a beat-the-crowds visit to the Trevi fountain before taking a guided tour of the Colosseum. Richard and Matt head to Gladiator School to practice ancient Roman sword skills. There’s just enough time to order some bespoke marble souvenirs before heading to the center of the ancient Roman world, The Forum, to assess the many triumphs of their time in the city.
