Forensic psychiatrist Emma Robertson has been asked to take on the case of Connie Mortensen, a woman accused of a despicable crime. Connie is being held in a secure psychiatric unit awaiting trial while Emma has to assess her state of mind on the night of her offense. During their first session, however, Connie claims to have no memory of that night; instead, she mocks Emma and begins probing into her personal life as both become involved in a complex cat-and-mouse game.
