In the 980s, Yang Ye (a former Later Han general) pledges allegiance to Emperor Taizong of the Song dynasty and leads his family in defending the nation against Khitan Liao Dynasty invaders. The Yang clan is renowned for their honor, courage, and patriotism in protecting their homeland. Tragedy strikes at the Battle of Golden Beach, where a devastating conspiracy results in Yang Ye and four of his sons' deaths, with another son taken prisoner. Yang Yanzhao (the surviving son) and Yang Yande must now carry on their family's legacy, seeking to bring peace to the Song dynasty while also pursuing vengeance against those responsible for their family's destruction.
