Almost as soon as she lands on El Hierro, judge Candela faces a murder investigation. On his wedding day, Fran is found dead in an underwater cave. His bride is distraught, her father not so much...
Candela faces a big decision and, once she makes it, finds that she is very unpopular. Feeling isolated within her own team, she appoints local cop Reyes to assist her.
The investigation brings out the hidden side of Fran’s life. Did Fran die because he was involved in shady business? Or was it a crime of passion? Diaz and Candela’s separate investigations move on.
Diaz gets more information about Fran’s business but can’t work out which islander was helping him. The only person Candela trusts is Reyes who is moving closer to learning the murderer's identity.
There is another murder but how will the murderer make the body vanish? After the disappearance, there is a hue and cry which leads to a search, while a devastated Candela is awash with guilt.
The search operation leads to a sunken boat. Is it connected to Fran’s dodgy affairs? Feeling desperate, Candela turns to Diaz for help when the islanders are distracted by a religious festival.
After an arrest, both Diaz and Candela are anxious for the same reason. Meanwhile, the murderer is trying to find the stash and get away from the island.
Candela and Diaz - and one other interested person - are tracking the murderer during the festival, but which of them will succeed in stopping such a ruthless killer?
