22min - Between Shohoku, Kainan, Ryonan and Takezato, only two will make it to nationals. Shohoku get pumped up for the first game against Kainan.
22min - Shohoku faces defending champion Kainan in the first round of finals. Kainan comes out strong, but Hanamichi counters with a fake and skillful shots.
22min - Kainan put third-year student Miyamasu onto the court. Hanamichi is thrown off by his sickly demeanor and gets taken out of the game.
22min - Shohoku is behind by 15, but Rukawa makes two shots to put them back on track. Akagi is injured, and a spirited Hanamichi gets back in the game.
22min - Hanamichi tries to make up for Akagi's absence. His and Rukawa's efforts bring Shohoku within 5 points of Kainan with 1:30 to go in the first half.
22min - With all eyes on him, Rukawa makes shot after shot and ties the game. Akagi comes off the bench in the second half, but his leg is not fully healed.
22min - Kainan shooting guard Jin makes several 3-pointers, increasing their lead to 10. The exhausted Shohoku team calls for a timeout.
22min - Shohoku lag behind with 10 minutes left in the game. As a last-ditch strategy, they focus on Maki and put Hanamichi on Jin.
22min - Trailing by 4 with 4:30 left, Shohoku go all in. Kogure subs in for an exhausted Rukawa. Mitsui is at the end of the line with just 45 seconds to go.
22min - Kainan lead by 4 with 45 seconds to go. Hanamichi makes a slam dunk and looks to Mitsui for one more 3-pointer to seal the win.
22min - Hanamichi cannot get over the shock of losing. Rukawa blames himself for not having enough stamina as the two fight over who deserves the blame.
22min - After Hanamichi shaves his head for a fresh start, coach Anzai tries to flush out his insecurities at practice.
22min - Shohoku focus on training Hanamichi because they can't afford to lose any more games. Hanamichi practices shooting silently and without complaint.
