The students are all ready for the school trip. As usual, Valentina makes everyone wait for her. When she finally shows up, she's not even wearing an appropriate hiking outfit, as she's walking in a pair of high heels. Behind her there's Tinelli, whom she's asked to carry her two heavy suitcases. Shortly after leaving, Valentina feels tired and decides to take a break from walking. Tinelli offers to keep her company, and Valentina agrees since she doesn't want to be left out there all alone. Their friends keep walking but soon realize they're lost. Now that Smilzo's compass is broken, their fate is in Secchia's hands, as he's an expert in botany and has a good sense of direction. Meanwhile, Tinelli ventures into the woods to defend Valentina from the alleged attack from a wildcat. When he comes back looking all scruffy, Valentina, moved by his selfless gesture, takes care of Tinelli and tells him she's very grateful to him. Unfortunately, Tinelli doesn't hear any of it; he's so exhausted, he falls asleep. When he wakes up, he's reunited with his friends, who've finally managed to reach them. Along the way Bella has found a tiny cat, which she's now excitedly showing to her friends. Unfortunately, the harmless animal turns out to be the "ferocious beast" Tinelli said he fought against.
