In a case of mistaken identity, King Shaw (Murphy) is cast to star on Broadway—resulting an inflated ego for Shaw and a big headache for the theatrical company. Rather than stand in his way, King's much-more talented partner, Johnny Brett (Astaire), coaches Shaw for his starring role. But when King arrives late and drunk on opening night, the true star goes on stage--and triumphs. Featuring Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell in a six-minute tap dance finale to Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine."
