Richard is joined by actor Fay Ripley for a wintry mini break in Oslo. Together, they pack two days with sledging, screaming, skiing, sculpture, and scoffing. Despite being a proud half Norwegian, Richard manages to muster a scintilla of objectivity. Richard leads Fay to Oslo’s hippest hotel, the Thief, home to an art collection which includes works by Warhol, Hirst, and Koons. Later in the show, they decide to check out the winter sports options, and they attempt to stay upright long enough to master cross country skiing. The pair further enjoy a double dose of art, hitting the National Gallery to check out Munch’s masterpiece and take a snowy shuffle around Vigeland Park. They sample Michelin starred Norse nosh and eat one of the world’s best hotdogs at an historic kiosk before finally sampling the delights of the Mini Bottle Gallery.
