When Tylor accidentally breaks MIFT’s old vending machine, Fritz officiates a funeral wherein Tylor learns the old machine was like a coworker to him. Meanwhile, Mike and Sully discover that Monsters, Inc.’s productivity is down due to low morale and therefore budget cuts must be made. As a result, Fritz is told he must fire one member of MIFT… but who? To boost morale, Mike finances a series of perks, including a new vending machine for MIFT… and Fritz loves it. But when Tylor and Duncan fight over their favorite snack, they break the new machine. Scrambling to repair it before Fritz notices, Duncan seemingly fixes the machine… until it goes haywire and attacks them with foods and drinks. Tylor springs to action and destroys the new machine to protect his friends. In the end, Fritz feels he can’t fire anyone… therefore he is going to retire. But as a result of Mike’s moral boosting schemes, Monsters, Inc.’s profits rise and Fritz doesn’t need to retire. And to make things right, Tylor reveals he’s fixed the old vending machine, his first successful repair.
