Wayne's Day to Shine / Wayne Listens Up
24min -
The Higgly kids and their schoolmates are very excited when Miss Fern casts them in a school play called "How Does Your Garden Grow?" Wayne is a little nervous about learning his lines. Plunkie sings about how the best way to memorize his line is to practice, practice, practice. On the day of the play, a comedy of errors ensues when Wayne slips on some banana peel and causes the set paint to splatter all over the cast's costumes! Before you can say "break a leg," our hero, the laundry worker, takes the messy cast to the laundromat for a good spin and wash! In clean costumes, the kids are a smash and Wayne shines better than ever when he nails his line. After Plunkie gives a beach safety lesson, the Higgly kids go out to the ocean for a fun game of wave tag. Then, just when Wayne wins the game, a wave catches him off guard and sends him tumbling into the water, head over feet! Fortunately, Wayne is safe and sound, except that he can't hear like he used to; in fact, when his friends speak to him, they sound like they are underwater! The Higgly kids try to help Wayne by talking louder or drawing pictures of what they are saying, but Wayne's hearing is getting worse. The only person that can really help out is our hero, the doctor. After examining Wayne, the doctor treats his "swimmer's ear" with some ear drops.
