23min - The match between Miyata and Australian boxer Arnie Gregory begins. Gregory quickly puts Miyata against the ropes, but Miyata lands a counterpunch.
23min - Miyata gets knocked down again in Round 2, but in Round 3, he refuses to give up and resolves to fight through the pain of Gregory's body blows.
23min - In Round 4, Miyata knocks Gregory to the ground with a cross counter. Gregory musters his remaining strength to stand but then collapses again.
23min - Eager but naïve, Ippo struggles during a brutally intense sparring session against world champion Ricardo Martinez and his imposing boxing techniques.
23min - During an early morning run with Takamura and Ippo the day before the world championship match, Date opens up about an incident from his past.
23min - Date impresses with his extraordinary fighting style in Round 1. But in the next round, he must contend with Martinez's menacing right fist.
23min - Date deploys his powerful Heartbreak Shot, but Martinez blocks it with his elbow. Badly hurt, Date retreats to the corner of the ring to recover.
23min - The injured Date asks Ippo to help improve Japanese boxing in his place. Meanwhile, a talented new boxer named Itagaki joins the Kamogawa gym.
23min - After learning just how serious Hammer Nao is about the upcoming match, Ippo puts his reservations aside and vows to fight with all his strength.
23min - Rushing in at the sound of the bell, Ippo quickly forces Nao to the ropes and then down to the mat. Nao gets up, but Ippo ferociously attacks.
23min - Nao sees an opening and hurtles toward Ippo, but Ippo fires back with a powerful uppercut. Surprised but defiant, Nao gets to his feet and squares up.
23min - Ippo accepts an invitation to go to the beach, where Takamura and the others happen to be training. That night, Ippo spends time with Kumi.
23min - Although he is still recovering, Ippo happily agrees to spar with Itagaki. Later, back at the gym, he spars with an intense young boxer named Imai.
23min - With the date of the world title fight officially set, Takamura prepares to face a dismissive opponent. Itagaki reels from a disappointing debut.
23min - Takamura begins Round 1 in poor condition. He dashes forward and lands a series of blows on West, but the punches don't seem to do any damage.
23min - After the match against West, world champion Bryan Hawk provokes Takamura into lunging at him. Ippo discovers more about Takamura’s past.
23min - Takamura commits to an intensive diet and training regimen to lose weight before his next match. Meanwhile, Hawk arrives back in Japan.
23min - While a carefree Hawk enjoys the limelight, Takamura fails to impress the media with his lackluster performance in a public sparring match.
23min - After his match, Ippo finds Date and several other Japanese champions gathered to support Takamura. A newly confident Takamura heads to the ring.
23min - Takamura forces Hawk into a corner, but Hawk fires back with an uppercut and uses unconventional techniques to catch Takamura off guard.
23min - In a display of speed and power, Hawk knocks Takamura down again. Takamura manages to get up by the count of eight but seems on the verge of defeat.
23min - Takamura promises the spectators a knockout. Under their expectant gaze, he goes after Hawk with some strategic advice from an observant Miguel.
23min - Hawk delivers a powerful punch intended to secure a decisive victory, but Takamura suddenly springs back to life with an extraordinary counterattack.
23min - A week after the world title match, a life-sized bust of Takamura arrives at the Kamogawa gym. Itagaki seeks to redeem himself in his second match.
22min - Returning home from training, Ippo is surprised when Miyata appears and demands to know why Ippo has been ignoring his repeated requests for a fight.
