Karsu travels through Gaziantep. Because this fascinating city is located in eastern Türkiye, far away from Istanbul and the over-familiar party beaches, and close to the border with Syria, it is not necessarily a place that attracts many tourists. The strong Middle Eastern influence gives this huge city a mythical atmosphere, and then there's the food. A famous Turkish saying goes: "If Türkiye is a house, Gaziantep is the kitchen." The food here is more spicy and intense than in other places. Here, Karsu immerses herself in the local scene and searches for the secret of the perfect Baklava, one of Karsu's favorite treats. She meets the guru of this delicacy. This stoic bald man, nicknamed The Arab, teaches her the subtleties of the craft in the oldest Baklava bakery in the world.
