A young Gacy leaves his abusive childhood home and marries. But his appearance as a family man falls apart when he's sent to prison for sexually assaulting boys. Later, he commits his first murder.
Gacy faces fewer barriers when his second wife leaves him. He claims 14 more victims in the year after his divorce. No one suspects that the children's entertainer is hiding bodies under his house.
A survivor tracks Gacy down, but his statements are ignored by police. An increasingly brazen Gacy kills again and begins dumping bodies in public.
Detectives finally investigate Gacy, placing his home under 24-hour surveillance. A search reveals the bodies buried under his house. Gacy is charged with 33 counts of murder and sentenced to death.
