At a town meeting Tracy is heckled despite her tireless work as the people of Salisbury want to know the truth. Afterwards Tracy secretly has a fully blown panic attack as her own anxiety begins to manifest. When Nick and Sarah return home they find it gutted, all their belongings are to be incinerated, but at least he is alive. Tracy’s fears continue to spiral as she fears the city’s water course may have been infected, and she quarantines a raft of ducks. Finally, with no further traces discovered and the contaminated areas cleaned, it looks like life in Salisbury may be able to return to near normal. Maybe life for Tracy too as she moves back in with her family. Charlie, the boyfriend of Dawn Sturgess, rummages through a charity bin. Charlie finds a perfume bottle, a perfect present for Dawn—holding a deadly secret, unknown to him. He presents her with the perfume bottle as a gift. She sprays herself with it and minutes later she collapses. She is taken to hospital on suspicion of an overdose. A day later Charlie also collapses. It becomes apparent that they have been contaminated with Novichok, stored in the discarded bottle. When Tracy hears she holds herself personally responsible and drives back into work, knowing the horror of the first attack is about to unleash itself on Salisbury all over again.
