Cheryl's birthday is coming up and she gets Dana to reveal that Jim is planning a surprise party. As Cheryl tries on outfits for her party, Jim comes home early from work, sees his wife dressed up and figures out that Dana has told Cheryl of the party.
Furious with Cheryl and Dana, Jim cancels the party and a guilt-ridden Cheryl offers to cook a nice dinner for him on her birthday instead. On the night of the birthday dinner, though, Jim is called away on a "plumbing emergency". When he returns later, he and Andy, smelling of pretzels and beer, both sport autographs of Chicago Bears Brian Urlacher on their chests. The "emergency" was a celebrity bowl-a-thon.
The next day, Cheryl is ready to attend Dana's promotion party, but Jim says he's too angry to go. Cheryl, upset, goes alone. When she arrives at the restaurant, Jim and the family greet her with a big surprise party.
