Intrigue unfolds within the cloistered world of a convent in this atmospheric mystery-melodrama from Douglas Sirk. A torrential rainstorm forces convicted murderer Valerie Carns (Ann Blyth)—who is being escorted to death row by a brace of guards—to take refuge at a nunnery whose hospital is presided over by Sister Mary (Claudette Colbert).
