In male prisons ruled by toxic masculinity, dancing is not a consideration. Yet, in the A-Yard at Lancaster State Prison ten young men are trying to break this taboo by inviting famous French choreographer, Dimitri Chamblas, to lead a contemporary dance class. This ongoing program, initiated in partnership with CalArts, signals a step towards rehabilitation and gives participants both hope for the future and a chance to redefine their prison culture.
