In 1995, newbie FBI profiler Jim 'Fitz' Fitzgerald joins the UNABOM task force, keen to action new methods. Two years later, he contemplates finally facing Ted Kaczynski - the Unabomber.
The Unabomber threatens to blow up a plane as it leaves LA. But is the threat real? In 1997, Fitz confronts Ted for the first time.
Linguist Natalie Rogers helps Fitz find clues about the Unabomber's identity in his manifesto, but their discoveries are met with scepticism. Two years later, Ted says that Fitz's work may acquit him.
The Unabomber says he'll stop bombing if his manifesto is published. Fitz puts his career on the line as he pushes for the demands to be met.
An ostracised Fitz receives linguistic proof that Ted is the Unabomber. But will the task force accept his findings?
Ted sees his manifesto in print in The Washington Post and writes to his brother to explain why he engaged in terrorist activities
The FBI close in on Ted's cabin, hoping to gather evidence. But when the press catch wind of the operation, Fitz must race to find a linguistic smoking gun that will secure a warrant.
When Ted fails to have the evidence against him invalidated, Fitz makes one last appeal to him to plead guilty. Will it work?
