This barren chunk of rock, sand, cactus and silt -sits right between the California and Nevada border. They must survive nearly 400 miles of bone-jarring desert...broken up into three 120-mile laps. The course it littered with giant whoops, deep ruts, and thick rock gardens. They must overcome searing heat, blinding sunlight, thick chalky silt and...the dark of night.
